Monday, March 5th - Marist College
To kick off the second week of Winterim we headed over to Poughkeepsie, NY to visit Marist College. A private, liberal arts college with roughly 7,000 students, Marist has a wide variety of degrees and club offerings on campus. Our day began with lunch in the main dining hall which was followed by a visit with Greg Lyall, a Forman alum from the class of 2014. Greg will be earning his degree this spring in Information Technology and Systems and had many great things to say about his experience at Marist. Greg talked with our group about his transition from Forman to Marist, his personal experiences with the classes, professors, and workload in college, and about the various internships he has held during the past three years.
After our meeting with Greg, our group met with representatives from the Office of Accessibility and Accommodations to learn about Marist's comprehensive learning support program. Students were very interested in how this program was different from what is offered at other colleges, and they asked a lot of great questions throughout the session. The final part of our day was the campus tour which left many students impressed with the strong sense of community and school spirit that exists at Marist.
