Due to the second snow storm of the last week, we were unable to travel to Central Connecticut State University today. We are hoping that the snow will stop early enough for us to be able to travel to the University of Connecticut tomorrow morning.

Today we traveled to New London, CT to visit Connecticut College. Founded in 1911, Connecticut College is a small, private, liberal arts college with approximately 1900 students. Our visit included a campus tour, an information session with the Office of Admission, and lunch with Lucie Welles who graduated from Forman last year. Lucie shared a lot of information with the group and was able to give a clear picture of the amount of time she devotes to being a member of the sailing team. She also talked with the group about the coursework she has done during her first year, and the manner in which her professors are willing to work with her to make sure she is successful. At the end of the visit, our group stated that they were impressed with the dorm rooms, the small class sizes, and the close relationships that students have with their professors.

To kick off the second week of Winterim we headed over to Poughkeepsie, NY to visit Marist College. A private, liberal arts college with roughly 7,000 students, Marist has a wide variety of degrees and club offerings on campus. Our day began with lunch in the main dining hall which was followed by a visit with Greg Lyall, a Forman alum from the class of 2014. Greg will be earning his degree this spring in Information Technology and Systems and had many great things to say about his experience at Marist. Greg talked with our group about his transition from Forman to Marist, his personal experiences with the classes, professors, and workload in college, and about the various internships he has held during the past three years. After our meeting with Greg, our group met with representatives from the Office of Accessibility and Accommodations to learn about Marist's comprehensive learning support program. Due to poor weather conditions, our trip to Western New England University was cancelled today. Students spent the day on campus instead but are looking forward to visiting Marist College on Monday.

Our third trip of the Winterim took us to University of Hartford where we had the pleasure of meeting with three Forman alumni. Grace Disstion '17, Jake Sussman '14 , and David Wiskind '15 all took time out of their days to meet with our group and tell us about their experiences in college thus far. Grace, Jake, and David are all doing well and happy at the University of Hartford, and they were able to give some great advice to our current students. Our visit to University of Hartford also included a tour of the campus and an information session with the Office of Admission. While most of our group attended the general information session, a couple of students took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about The Hartt School which offers degrees in music, dance, and theater. Our second trip of the Winterim took us south to Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. Caroline Herdje, a Forman graduate from the class of 2016 met us for lunch when we got to campus. Currently a sophomore, Caroline is studying in Farifield's highly ranked School of Nursing. She was able to talk with our group about the specifics of pursuing a nursing degree as well as what it is like to make the transition from Forman to college. After lunch, the group attended an information session with the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Students heard about the diverse fields of study that Fairfield offers and the strong connections the school has with potential employers. The day ended with a tour of campus which left students with a sense of the strong school spirit that exists at Fairfield University.
